According to trends in soft drink consumption, 14% of consumers have increased their intake of carbonated soft drinks in the previous 12 months. Compared to previous generations, Gen Z consumers have boosted their intake of carbonated soft drinks.

After unflavoured bottled water, two-thirds of Europeans use carbonated soft drink on a weekly basis. More customers choose these drinks for mid-afternoon snacks than at any other time of day, with nighttime being the next most popular period. Younger generations, however, are extending their consumption hours past these hours.

According to research on the trends of carbonated soft drink, consumers’ selections are influenced by sugar content and health concerns. Low, no, or decreased sugar claims have an impact on their decision to buy carbonated soft drink. The UK is the country where consumers of carbonated soft drinks care about this sugar reduction claim the most, followed by Ireland, the Netherlands, Finland, and Spain. Because of health concerns, especially those pertaining to weight control, several European consumers have reduced their drinking. More than half of customers still like carbonated drink with cola flavors in spite of this.
